Last July 13, 2024, on a sunny and warm pasta-licious kind of afternoon, 32 CFL Singles met at Greenwich Restaurant in Visayas Avenue for a CFL Singles Assembly. This month was a workshop on how to discern, called ÃãMaking Inspired ChoicesÃÃà by Bro. Tetet Pineda.
There are 7 pillars in the Singles formation track: self-growth, wellness, vocation and discernment, love and relationships, family and friendship, and faith and service. This monthÃÃÃs assembly focused on Pillar 3 about vocation and discernment.
Some key points of the talk were:
Discernment is opening our hearts to God's will by listening to the Holy Spirit.
St. Ignatius of Loyola developed a discernment method where one asks not Ããwhat do I want?ÃÃà but Ããwhat does God want for me?ÃÃÃ. Whereas others rely more on reason and consider emotions negatively, St. Ignatius believed that feelings are just as important as reason because our feelings give us an indication about what God wants of us. He also suggests using imaginative reflection (creatively visualizing possible outcomes in our minds), and seeking confirmation like through the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, etc.) from Galatians 5:22.
Bro. Tetet offered 7 steps to discernment. The Singles then did a workshop in small groups identifying a choice to be made using these 7 steps. Afterwards, they shared their insights on the activity.
C4 Singles, Anj Sebastian, mentioned how important it is to gather like this and cherish memories together. C4 members were recently grieving from the loss of Singles member Jonathan ÃãDalawÃÃà Mellizo who died in a motorcycle accident a week before.
Participants lingered at the venue and when the activity was officially over, they continued their pocket fellowships at nearby cafes.
Singles excitedly await the next Assembly in August on Keeping Calm and Managing Stress.
